==> Get the Ooni Fyra Now! – P.S. No one who has bought an Ooni Fyra Pizza Oven has ever regretted it! It has a door that helps in retaining heat inside the oven. The handle is glass-reinforced, so even if the door is in contact with the heat inside the oven, you can still hold the cool-to-touch handle. The door is also accommodating, and it does not get in the way. Ooni has designed the hook on the door to have maximum use and minimum distraction. The door is good for certain climates where heat retention can be a problem for the oven. When you open the oven door, you can hang it at the bottom of the oven’s opening, and it makes way for you to put the pizza inside. The door also has about an inch of opening just beside the handle. It functions as a peephole, so you can see if the flames inside are going without even opening the door. The flames out back are going to cook pizzas evenly.

Pizza parties. I t’s a stinging realisation that hits you mid-party: You’ve become the lonely grillmaster standing guard over burgers and hot dogs while everyone else chats and plays lawn games. If you want the party to come to you, make pizza. Folks are naturally drawn to check out an outdoor pizza oven, and you can also involve family and friends in the process. Invite them to stretch, top, and launch their own pizzas. That’s a heck of a lot more fun than standing solo in front of a hot grill. High temps = fast bakes. As soon as guests start launching those pies they stretched and topped, they’ll only be 60 to 90 seconds from eating. That’s about six times faster than cooking a medium burger! Ooni ovens are versatile. While we obviously love a pizza party, you can cook far more than pizza in your Ooni oven. From and to, the possibilities are wide open. Less cleaning means more time for eating, drinking, hanging out, and enjoying the warm weather outside.

Can you cook a steak in a pizza oven?
Steakhouse Steak in a Pizza Oven We love our pizza ovens for turning out beautifully charred, ready-in-90-seconds pizzas, but they can do much more than that. They roast veggies in no time, bake fish fillets to moist perfection and even cook steaks like a pro.
- Here’s our method for the latter.
- While cooking the meat twice may seem unusual, it’s a method used by some of the country’s oldest and best steakhouses.
- The blast of high heat at the beginning caramelizes the exterior; slicing the meat, basting with butter and then returning it to the oven adds flavor and moisture while it evenly cooks to your preferred level of doneness.

Preheat the pizza oven for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, rub the steaks all over with 1 tablespoon of the butter each, then season generously with salt and pepper. Put a medium cast-iron skillet in the pizza oven and let it heat for 5 minutes. Place the steaks in the skillet, return the skillet to the oven and cook until there is a dark brown crust on the bottom of the steaks, 2 to 5 minutes. Flip the steaks and cook until the other side develops a dark brown crust, 2 to 5 minutes more. Transfer the steaks to a cutting board with tongs, reserving the skillet. Holding the steaks in place with the tongs, cut 1/2-inch-thick slices crosswise. Transfer the steaks back to the skillet, pushing the slices together so they all touch. Spread 2 tablespoons of the butter on top of each steak and return to the oven. Cook to your desired temperature, basting with the melted butter halfway through. For reference, medium rare was about 2 minutes more for us, but it may vary based on your oven’s temperature.

What ovens do Papa Johns use?
Papa John’s to Offer Time-Pressed Consumers Quality Pizza Faster with Revolutionary Next Generation Pizza OvensLOUISVILLE, Ky.-(BUSINESS WIRE)-April 25, 2006- Nation’s QSR Customer Satisfaction Leader Partners with the Middleby Corporation to Launch New Technology 770 WOW! Ovens That Bake 30% Faster with 25% Energy Savings Understanding that every minute counts in satisfying hungry customers, Papa John’s International, Inc.
- NASDAQ: PZZA), the nation’s third largest pizza chain and recognized QSR customer satisfaction leader, today pledged that it will make its quality pizza faster.
- Responding to time-crunched Americans who covet convenience and treasure meals in a hurry, and to offset rising energy costs, Papa John’s is making a major investment in next generation ovens – known as the Middleby Marshall 770 WOW! Oven – that bake 30% faster while reducing energy consumption by 25% over the most energy efficient oven currently available in the pizza industry.
In an agreement announced today with The Middleby Corporation (NASDAQ: MIDD), Papa John’s has the exclusive right through 2008 to purchase the patented oven and has committed to the purchase of 1,500 or more by the end of 2008. The company expects that the oven will be installed, usually two per restaurant, in all 500+ company-owned domestic Papa John’s restaurants by mid-2007 and an additional 250 or more franchised or company-owned Papa John’s restaurants through 2008.
Reducing the pizza bake time from six and a half to four and a half minutes translates to improved service times, important in serving today’s time-pressed consumer. In fact, once implemented the oven will allow Papa John’s to offer customers a ten-minute guarantee on carry-out pizzas at lunch, a time when customers are really trying to beat the clock and want good food fast.
“Papa John’s challenged Middleby Marshall to develop an oven that helps us continue to enhance customer service, in terms of delivering a quality pizza under ever-increasing tight time constraints,” said Tim O’Hern, Papa John’s senior vice president of development.
- With energy costs continuing to increase, we also challenged them to produce a smart, environmentally friendly oven that would use less energy during low production times.
- With the new 770 WOW! Oven, Middleby certainly delivered on our requests.” The 770 WOW! Oven is customized to Papa John’s products and links to Papa John’s proprietary in-store point-of-sale system, making the oven what is believed to be the first in the pizza industry to tie directly to the restaurant’s POS ordering system.
As a result, the oven operates at varying energy levels based on order flow, resulting in substantially lower energy consumption when not in use. For six years running, consumers have rated Papa John’s no.1 in customer satisfaction among all national QSR chains in the highly regarded American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
- At March 26, 2006, there were 2,924 Papa John’s restaurants (509 company-owned and 2,415 franchised) operating in 49 states and 22 countries.

Can you use wood chips in a pellet pizza oven?
Our Favorite Fuel for the Ooni Pizza Oven – After we got tired of having to refill the wood pellets, we tried wood chips, These worked well and required less attention than the pellets. Don’t worry about the “flavor” of wood chips. We usually get hickory or mesquite, but since the pizzas cook so fast, you won’t taste a difference.
- With more research, I found that wood and charcoal would burn hotter, longer.
- So we bought lump charcoal and paired it with the wood chunks.
- This has been our favorite method.
- We add a 50/50 mix of lump charcoal and wood chunks to the back of the oven, add a little lighter fluid, and within minutes, we have a roaring fire.
We typically let it burn for 10-15 minutes, then we’ll add a few more wood chips. After 20 minutes, it’s ready for pizza! Just make sure you buy lump charcoal and not charcoal briquettes. The briquettes produce more ash, and it can start to build up in the oven.

Can you put raw dough on a pizza stone?
Tips To Make the Most of a Pizza Stone – Using a pizza stone is great for making delicious pizza, but that’s not its only use. You can try making other tasty options on your stone to make the most of this kitchen must-have. Next time you roast fresh veggies in the oven, place them atop your stone instead of on a baking sheet.
You can still coat them with oil and your favorite seasonings to get a good flavor. Make sure to stir them occasionally as they roast. Ever enjoyed a giant cookie? You can make your own drool-worthy treat on a stone by scooping raw cookie dough onto the greased stone. Press it down to make it even and level, and bake at the temperature indicated in the recipe.
You may need to keep the big cookie in the oven for a few extra minutes. A pizza stone is also great for heating frozen foods, as it helps absorb any ice crystals that may have accumulated within the freezer. If you’re cooking frozen foods, this is the one time you shouldn’t preheat the stone, because placing cold food on a hot stone can damage your favorite eats.

Which Ooni is better gas or pellets?
“> Wood pellets. If you’ve been around for a while, you know they have a special place in our hearts, and have played a big role as a fuel source for previous iterations of Ooni ovens. These days, they continue to power our small but mighty Ooni Fyra 12, Why have we been so committed to wood pellets over the years? Because, just like our Fyra 12 oven, wood pellets are highly efficient — not to mention upcycled and cost-effective. Wood pellets are fuel efficient It’s amazing how much energy they can produce for something so small. They’re made by compressing wood byproducts and are usually grouped into two types: softwood and hardwood. In their raw form, hardwood pellets tend to burn longer and have a higher heat density than their softwood counterparts. Softwood pellets, on the other hand, typically have a higher energy output, which means they burn hotter, faster. Either type can work well as a fuel source, depending on the oven or stove you’re looking to power, but for Ooni ovens, we recommend sticking with hardwood pellets. When thinking about how efficient these pellets are, we have to look at surface area. If you think about how much surface is exposed on a log versus an equivalent mass of wood pellets, the pellets have a much higher surface area available for combustion. The log may be bigger in size, but the low surface area means it’ll burn lower for a longer period of time. The wood pellets, on the other hand, will burn with a strong flame that combusts much quicker than the log. In an optimized environment like an Ooni oven, wood pellets burn at extremely high temperatures while producing very little ash. They pull in oxygen and create an unusually efficient flame, which is why it’s so easy to reach that high, high heat when using hardwood pellets. Burn times and temperatures vary based on factors like wood type and pellet diameter. In the United States, it’s more common to find oak pellets; in the UK, you’ll typically see more ash pellets. Each variety will burn differently, so it’s important to monitor the temperature of the baking stone in your oven to keep from scorching your pizza. They’re also upcycled Instead of cutting down new trees, wood pellets are made from leftover wood that is gathered and processed. As long as they’re untreated, these scrap pieces can be sourced from pretty much anywhere: sticks, sawdust, wood chips, lumber mill discards, and more. Every scrap used is completely natural and food safe, and each pellet is held together without bonding agents or additives. And finally, they’re cost-effective When you want a fuel source that puts out a crazy amount of energy compared to the amount you pay for it, wood pellets are your answer. They cost much less than gas and other solid fuels for the amount of heat and length of burn time you get. Cook with wood pellets If wood pellets sound like something you’d like to try, look no further than the Ooni Fyra 12 Wood Pellet Pizza Oven, This compact powerhouse runs on hardwood pellets that are automatically fed into the fuel tray for consistently high heat and a low-maintenance cooking experience. That means making 12″ pizzas from home (but with that incredible wood-fired pizzeria flavor) is easier than ever. The Fyra 12 is ultra portable at just 22 pounds (10 kilograms). It breaks down easily and packs up into its carrying case — ideal for any pizza purist who wants to make authentic Neapolitan pizza on the go.

What kind of pellets can I use in Ooni?
Ooni 3 vs. Ooni Pro: – Ooni makes a couple of different models, including the Ooni 3 and the Ooni Pro, While both are small, outdoor pizza ovens that will help you make in.sane. pizzas in your own backyard, they have some key differences. We own the Ooni 3, though we have some friends who own the Ooni Pro.
- Size : The Ooni Pro is almost double the size of the Ooni 3. Ooni 3 is suitable for making 12-inch pizzas, while with an Ooni Pro you can make up to 16-inch pizzas or use it to make wood-fired meats or roasted veggies. Fuel : The Ooni 3 is fueled by wood pellets, while the Ooni Pro is a little more versatile. You can fuel an Ooni Pro with wood pellets, charcoal, or even propane gas. Portability : If you’re looking for a portable pizza oven, both are great options. The Ooni 3 is smaller & can be packed in its bag to easily take with you whever you want. The Ooni Pro is a bit larger and requires more to move it, though it is possible. Price : Because the Ooni Pro has more features, it has a bigger price tag! Ooni Pro runs at $599, while the Ooni 3 runs at $300.
Which Ooni pizza oven is right for you is really a matter of what you’re looking for in an outdoor pizza oven. After using it for 2 years, we absolutely adore our Ooni 3. It’s a really great entry-level outdoor pizza oven. The fact that our Ooni 3 is fueled by wood pellets is not a big deal for us since we always have some on hand for our Traeger grill. (Side note: while we don’t own one, Ooni now also sells gas burner attachments, which allow you to convert your Ooni 3 to be gas-powered, just like the Ooni Pro.) Plus its size is perfect for us, since so often we’re just cooking for 2 or hosting a pizza party where everyone makes their own personal pizzas anyway! However, I am honestly considering upgrading to the Ooni Pro at this point! Despite the higher price tag, we’re really comfortable with using Ooni & we have so much fun with it that it would be awesome to be able to use it to make other wood-fired noms!
