How long to cook a pizza with ham and cheese?
Easter has come and gone, but a ton of food remains! Try this leftover ham pizza to curb your appetite for something new! Hi everyone! My name is Kacey and I am here today from my food blog, The Cookie Writer, to share with you something special just for Andi’s readers! I am so happy to be a contributor here at The Weary Chef, and I hope you love this leftover ham pizza as much as my family did. After the holidays we often see a ton of leftover food. It is no wonder seeing as everyone brings something to the table (and prepares a dinner-sized portion of each item)! In our family, it is not uncommon to see a lot of ham hanging around. It is a cheap, versatile meat that speaks to many. I prefer making everything homemade (which includes the sauce and dough,) but I know many do not have the time for that. That’s why this recipe is so awesome! Store-bought pizza sauce and pizza dough work perfectly here, and all that is left for you to do is slice up your ham, a large onion, and some mozzarella cheese! Talk about quick and easy! You can easily get creative with your toppings. While our leftover ham pizza only contained onions, I think a mix of bright peppers and mushrooms would work perfectly here. Basically when I make pizza, I like to clean out my fridge with any veggies that are needing to be used up 🙂 Who doesn’t love a new way to use up leftovers?! Oh! If you decide to go with store-bought dough to save time, remember to follow their instructions accordingly (but it really shouldn’t be too different than what I have listed.) I would love to have a pizza stone on hand, but my pizza pan works perfectly for our pizza nights 🙂 Print Recipe Leftover Ham and Cheese Pizza This leftover ham pizza can be made using store-bought ingredients, but just remember to adjust cooking time accordingly to your dough’s instructions! Preheat oven to 475F. Lightly dust your counter-top in flour. Using a rolling pin, roll out your pizza dough until desired size and thickness is reached. Carefully transfer to pizza pan and adjust accordingly. Spread your sauce to about 1-inch from the edge of the pizza dough. That uncovered part will be your crust. Evenly spread out the ham and onion. Finish off with mozzarella cheese. Place into oven and bake for 15-17 minutes, or until mozzarella cheese is nicely browned and crust is golden. Allow to cool slightly before cutting!
What kind of cheese do you put on Ham and cheese pizza?
Ham and Cheese Pizza Recipe –
▢ 1 14 ounce tube refrigerated pizza crust dough or homemade pizza dough ▢ 2 tablespoons butter ▢ 2 tablespoons flour ▢ 1 cup milk ▢ 3 ½ cups shredded cheese divided (I use cheddar, Swiss, and Monterey Jack. You can choose any of your favorites or a combo) ▢ Salt and pepper to taste ▢ 1 ½ cups diced ham ▢ Dried parsley for garnish
Heat oven to 400°F for dark or nonstick pan or 425°F for all other pans. Lightly grease a large 13-15″ pizza dish. Unroll dough in pan, pressing out to the edges. Bake dough for about 5-8 minutes or until light brown, but not all the way cooked. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add flour to hot butter. Stir to combine. Allow to heat back up for a minute. Begin slowly adding milk, a tablespoon or two at a time, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Cook and stir until mixture thickens, about 3 minutes. Add 1 ½ cups shredded cheese and stir until cheese is melted, about 3 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper. Pour cheese sauce on pizza crust. Top with ham and remaining shredded cheese. Sprinkle on dried parsley for garnish. Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
