Is Blob a Base64?
Hi @AmruthavarshiniM-3381 base64 encoding: A binary-to-text encoding scheme whereby an arbitrary sequence of bytes is converted to a sequence of printable ASCII characters, as described in RFC4648, binary large object (BLOB): A discrete packet of data that is stored in a database and is treated as a sequence of uninterpreted bytes.
- BLOBs and Base64 Encoding BLOBs are supported and stored in the XM_TYPE_STRING hash data dictionary format.
- The reason is that BLOBs are treated in the same manner as strings because they have already been encoded by using base64 encoding before storage into a dictionary file.
- BLOBs stored in Spreadsheet Data Model files MUST be encoded by using base64 encoding prior to any other compression and storage.
For information about the Spreadsheet Data Model file format, see section 2.1. If BLOBs are being stored in an XM_TYPE_STRING hash data dictionary, the flag value 0x100 MUST be set in the DictionaryFlags element in the metadata for the dictionary (see section 2.5.2.22.1).
- Because they are strings (with only 64 character symbols used), BLOBs can also be compressed by using Huffman compression.
- So if compression is used on the string store, both the strings and the BLOBs will be compressed by using Huffman compression if they fall within all of the Huffman compression constraints.
For more information about XM_TYPE_STRING hash data dictionary metadata, including the dictionary flags that need to be set, see section 2.5.2.22. For more information about the Huffman compression that is used, see section 2.7.4. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/office_file_formats/ms-xldm/58c62f7a-f995-4c68-9ed1-bb0af2ba330b Refer- https://stackoverflow.com/questions/39582878/successfully-saving-base64-image-to-azure-blob-storage-but-blob-image-always-bro/39590768 If the Answer is helpful, please click Accept Answer and up-vote, this can be beneficial to other community members.

Is Base64 still used?
Base64 – MDN Web Docs Glossary: Definitions of Web-related terms | MDN Base64 is a group of similar schemes that represent binary data in an ASCII string format by translating it into a radix-64 representation. The term Base64 originates from a specific, Base64 encoding schemes are commonly used when there is a need to encode binary data that needs to be stored and transferred over media that are designed to deal with ASCII.
: creates a Base64-encoded ASCII string from a “string” of binary data (“btoa” should be read as “binary to ASCII”). : decodes a Base64-encoded string (“atob” should be read as “ASCII to binary”).
The algorithm used by atob() and btoa() is specified in, section 4. Note: btoa() expects to be passed binary data, and will throw an exception if the given string contains any characters whose UTF-16 representation occupies more than one byte. Each Base64 digit represents exactly 6 bits of data.
So, three 8-bits bytes of the input string/binary file (3×8 bits = 24 bits) can be represented by four 6-bit Base64 digits (4×6 = 24 bits). This means that the Base64 version of a string or file will be at least 133% the size of its source (a ~33% increase). The increase may be larger if the encoded data is small.
For example, the string “a” with length === 1 gets encoded to “YQ==” with length === 4 — a 300% increase. Since JavaScript strings are 16-bit-encoded strings, in most browsers calling window.btoa on a Unicode string will cause a Character Out Of Range exception if a character exceeds the range of a 8-bit ASCII-encoded character.
the first one is to escape the whole string and then encode it; the second one is to convert the UTF-16 string to an UTF-8 array of characters and then encode it.
Here are the two possible methods. function utf8_to_b64 ( str ) function b64_to_utf8 ( str ) utf8_to_b64 ( “✓ à la mode” ) ; b64_to_utf8 ( “4pyTIMOgIGxhIG1vZGU=” ) ; This solution has been proposed by, Another possible solution without utilizing the now deprecated ‘unescape’ and ‘escape’ functions. This alternative, though, does not perform base64 encoding of the input string. Note the differences in the outputs of utf8_to_b64 and b64EncodeUnicode, Adopting this alternative may lead to interoperability issues with other applications. function b64EncodeUnicode ( str ) function UnicodeDecodeB64 ( str ) b64EncodeUnicode ( “✓ à la mode” ) ; UnicodeDecodeB64 ( “JUUyJTlDJTkzJTIwJUMzJUEwJTIwbGElMjBtb2Rl” ) ; Note: The following code is also useful to get an from a Base64 string and/or vice versa (). “use strict” ; function b64ToUint6 ( nChr ) function base64DecToArr ( sBase64, nBlocksSize ) nUint24 = 0 ; } } return taBytes ; } function uint6ToB64 ( nUint6 ) function base64EncArr ( aBytes ) nUint24 |= aBytes << ( ( 16 >>> nMod3 ) & 24 ) ; if ( nMod3 === 2 || aBytes, length – nIdx === 1 ) } return ( sB64Enc, substr ( 0, sB64Enc, length – 2 + nMod3 ) + ( nMod3 === 2 ? “” : nMod3 === 1 ? “=” : “==” ) ) ; } function UTF8ArrToStr ( aBytes ) return sView ; } function strToUTF8Arr ( sDOMStr ) nArrLen += nChr < 0x80 ? 1 : nChr < 0x800 ? 2 : nChr < 0x10000 ? 3 : nChr < 0x200000 ? 4 : nChr < 0x4000000 ? 5 : 6 ; } aBytes = new Uint8Array ( nArrLen ) ; let nIdx = 0 ; let nChrIdx = 0 ; while ( nIdx < nArrLen ) else if ( nChr < 0x800 ) else if ( nChr < 0x10000 ) else if ( nChr < 0x200000 ) else if ( nChr < 0x4000000 ) else nChrIdx ++ ; } return aBytes ; } const sMyInput = "Base 64 \u2014 Mozilla Developer Network" ; const aMyUTF8Input = strToUTF8Arr ( sMyInput ) ; const sMyBase64 = base64EncArr ( aMyUTF8Input ) ; alert ( sMyBase64 ) ; const aMyUTF8Output = base64DecToArr ( sMyBase64 ) ; const sMyOutput = UTF8ArrToStr ( aMyUTF8Output ) ; alert ( sMyOutput ) ; These function let us to create also or from Base64-encoded strings: const myArray = base64DecToArr ( "QmFzZSA2NCDigJQgTW96aWxsYSBEZXZlbG9wZXIgTmV0d29yaw==" ) ; const myBuffer = base64DecToArr ( "QmFzZSA2NCDigJQgTW96aWxsYSBEZXZlbG9wZXIgTmV0d29yaw==" ), buffer ; alert ( myBuffer, byteLength ) ; Note: The function base64DecToArr(sBase64) returns an of bytes. Can Base64 be hacked?
What is the eval base64 decode hack in WordPress? – An eval base64 decode hack is essentially a PHP code execution attack which is clouded by a base64 encoding scheme in order to hide the malicious code. The eval base64 PHP function allows the hackers to illegitimately gain control over your website and misuse it for malicious purposes.
- Running an outdated WordPress version.
- Vulnerable admin account
- Not renewing outdated themes which use old PHP scripts.
- Old and vulnerable versions of themes
- Depends on the type of hosting that’s used (shared, dedicated, virtual).
- The code contains multiple loopholes
Any of the above can contribute to PHP injection of the eval base64 decode code line: ” eval(base64_decode(“someObscureCharacterString”)) “. As a result, users coming from search engines like Chrome, Bing, Firefox are automatically redirected to a malicious site.

Which is better DER or Base64?
What is the difference between the formats “DER encoded” and “Base64 encoded” when exporting a certificate?
- I am often asked what the difference between the following certificate export options are:
- The first option exports the certifcate encoded in the format Distinguished Encoding Rules, which is a binary format.
The second option exports the certificate encoded with Base64, which is an encoding method that converts binary data to plain ASCII text. This is usually how binary attachments are encoded in mail messages, but you never see this since the mail client automatically converts it back to its original data type before you see the Base64 text included in the mail message.
- If you open them in a texteditor you see the difference:
In some remote access scenarios it’s not possible to copy binary data (such as files), but you can copy/transfer plain text. It’s pretty obvious that Base64 is a better choice in these cases. But what if you only have a DER encoded version of the certificate available? Well, you can either export it again and choose the other format OR you can use certutil : To convert from binary to Base64: certutil -encode filename.cer newfilename.cer To convert from Base64 to binary: certutil -decode filename.cer newfilename.cer : What is the difference between the formats “DER encoded” and “Base64 encoded” when exporting a certificate?

What is alternative to Base64?
Hexadecimal encoding is another popular way. However, base64 is more effective, as it’s representing 3 byte of data through 4 bytes of encoded data, while hex would represent 1 byte of data through 2 bytes of encoded data Basically you’re free to encode your data any way you want.

What is the blob format?
BLOB data type A BLOB (binary large object) is a varying-length binary string that can be up to 2,147,483,647 characters long. Like other binary types, BLOB strings are not associated with a code page. In addition, BLOB strings do not hold character data. The length is given in bytes for BLOB unless one of the suffixes K, M, or G is given, relating to the multiples of 1024, 1024*1024, 1024*1024*1024 respectively. Note: Length is specified in bytes for BLOB.) ] A BLOB without a specified length is defaulted to two gigabytes (2,147,483,647). BLOB Use the getBlob method on the java.sql.ResultSet to retrieve a BLOB handle to the underlying data. See, create table pictures(name varchar(32) not null primary key, pic blob(16M)); – find all logotype pictures select length(pic), name from pictures where name like ‘%logo%’; – find all image doubles (blob comparisons) select a.name as double_one, b.name as double_two from pictures as a, pictures as b where a.name < b.name and a.pic = b.pic order by 1,2; Pogledajte cijeli odgovor

Is BLOB same as text?
BLOB stands for Binary Large Objects and as its name suggests, it can be used for storing binary data while TEXT is used for storing large number of strings. BLOB can be used to store binary data that means we can store pictures, videos, sounds and programs also. For example, the following image can be stored into BLOB because the image has binary data. BLOB values behave like byte string and BLOB does not have a character set. Therefore, comparison and sorting is fully dependent upon numeric values of bytes. TEXT values behave like non-binary string or character string. TEXT has a character set and the comparison/ sorting fully depends upon the collection of character set.

What becomes BLOB in an image?
Image Processing — Blob Detection | by Ralph Caubalejo Image by author Image processing is primarily used to extract different features in an image. Since digital images contain different objects and information, it is evident that this kind of information is extracted from such images. To do this, we can perform image processing techniques to single out and detect such features and objects.
- One of the most promising techniques is called Blob Detection.
- A Blob, in a sense, is anything that is considered a large object or anything bright in a dark background, in images, we can generalize it as a group of pixel values that forms a somewhat colony or a large object that is distinguishable from its background.
Using image processing, we can detect such blobs in an image. Scikit-Image has different functions that can be used to show the different blob in an image. Let us go through each of them. Let us first load the example image: import numpy as npfrom skimage.io import imshow, imreadfrom skimage.color import rgb2gray import matplotlib.pyplot as plt sample = imread(‘flowers2.png’)sample_g = rgb2gray(sample) fig, ax = plt.subplots(1,2,figsize=(10,5))ax.imshow(sample)ax.imshow(sample_g,cmap=’gray’)ax.set_title(‘Colored Image’,fontsize=15)ax.set_title(‘Grayscale Image’,fontsize=15) plt.show() Figure 1: Sample Image (Image by author) Now, let us binarize the image: fig, ax = plt.subplots(1,3,figsize=(15,5)) sample_b = sample_g > 0.6 ax.set_title(‘Grayscale Image’,fontsize=20)ax.imshow(sample_g,cmap=’gray’) ax.plot(sample_g)ax.set_ylabel(‘Pixel Value’)ax.set_xlabel(‘Width of Picture’) ax.set_title(‘Plot of 1 Line’,fontsize=15) ax.set_title(‘Binarized Image’,fontsize=15)ax.imshow(sample_b,cmap=’gray’) Figure 2: Binarized Image (Image by author) For binarizing, we used a threshold on the pixel value of 0.6 since we can see on the sample plotline that there is a separation within this value. We usually binarize our image before blob detection since it is easier to work around the smaller dimensions and normalized values.
